Weird random image

For some reason, when I was thinking about this news report that some dickwads have said MTV's "Skins" is child pornography, there came to my mind an image of a rather butch man with a couple days worth of beard growth, wearing a Stetson, smoking, and being asked about it. His response was to exhale some smoke and say, "Sounds to me like those folks have never seen a real child, have only heard about them from rumors and speculation; they saw 'Skins,' and decided the people in it fit the description. Which, in my opinion, is like only having heard a description of a duck-billed platypus and deciding, upon seeing a bush baby, that it was a platypus."

My guess is that mistaking 'Skins' for any kind of pornography is like mistaking an axlotyl for a warthog.

USA: still a developing country?

Earlier, I was examining this horrible and horrifying stretch of road while waiting for the bus, with ramshackle houses not too far away. It struck me as crazy that in a city as good as Portland, that there were still such bad spots. And then I decided it meant that the United States is still a developing country, not much better than the 3rd world countries it calls developing, because they can't build roads worth shit, and they can't keep their cities looking uniformly nice. The fact that there are so many living in poverty is another point against this country.

So I got to thinking, how would I design a city? Well, for one thing, I'd build roads that didn't need to be repaved every damn summer. I'd build roads like the Romans did, to last hundreds or thousands of years with minimal repairs. Not sure what else I'd do, but that much should be a given.
