I've been saying very similar things about the Judeo-Christian god for years, and this man says it so much better than I could. Really lays out how Yahweh has become such an authoritarian figure that any and all religions stemming from this bastard are doomed to fall into authoritarianism, even fascism. Hell, the worship of Yahweh is probably the only reason we have fascism to begin with.

So far, Judaism seems to be the best one, with a lot of Jews questioning him, questioning the scriptures, and discussing ethics and morality in good ways. But as the genocide of the Palestinians at the hands of the Israelis proves, even they're not immune to the huge vein of fascist authoritarianism inherent in any worship of Yahweh. This is why Gnostic faiths where Yahweh is the evil Demiurge are the only potentially good religions stemming from this poisoned well. Well, them and Satanism of course, so long as it's one of the flavors where Satan represents rebellion and anti-authoritarianism, and not just another flavor of evil.

And anyone who thinks this is any kind of antisemitism on my part: no. The large number of cultural and/or heritage Jews who are atheists proves that Jewish culture and ethnic identity are not inextricably tied to the worship of the evil Yahweh. You can have your history, culture, identity, and strength against centuries of hatred without continuing to put your faith in an evil god and his evil, authoritarian rules. Same goes for Muslims.

And just so I'm clear, I do think both parties need to die and be replaced with like half a dozen leftist parties, and governments in general need to go extinct. Okay sadly the ranked choice voting in this election was only for mayor. Though there was a measure to make it a thing permanently, possibly for other things as well. Measure 117 I think. Voted yes on that, obviously.

If we had ranked choice voting for President, Trump would be at the bottom, Harris would be right next to him, and whoever the Green party candidate is would be #1, unless the Progressive or Independent option is better. Pretty much can guarantee no Democrat would ever rank higher than third from last with me.

For mayor, I found it a lot easier to pick my lowest ranked choices than the middle or higher. But I'd be cool with either #1 or #2 getting the office. The number 2 was some artist woman with an O name that had a line through it. I can't recall who #1 was. But TBH I only recognized a single name on that entire part of the ballot.

Me: (At Them) Point to me any instance where anyone has ever said "He ate." in a non-slang way, I dare you. Usually what gets said instead is "He has eaten (already)" or "He's eaten." "Ate" is used right before specifying what specific food someone ate.
Even if you did use "ate" the wrong way, it usually comes paired with "already," like "He already ate." Nobody ever just said "He ate" as a complete sentence on its own before it became this weird slang thing.

Me: (At Kitty Auburn Payne) I complain about plenty of stuff from other generations as well. The Beatles' music is horrible, most of the modern popular music is horrible but that's always been generally true; pretty much the only reason most enduring oldies music continues being played is that everyone got their music tastes from radio, and most people are too lazy to explore beyond that. Now that we have various Internet services competing for our listening, it's pretty much required to go searching around for stuff you like. The lowest common denominator people still stick with whatever's played the most on their service of choice, but there's fewer of them than in the radio days, so the music they like is correspondingly worse. But plenty of good music is still being made, if you're not too lazy or stupid to look for it. Hell, there's many times more good music now than ever before.

Back to slang, I have fewer issues with older generations' slang mostly just because all the really stupid things from those generations have already long since fallen into disuse.
Also, I only really have issue with "he ate" and "skibidi." For the most part I not only have no issue with modern gen z / alpha slang, I even use a lot of it myself. It's mainly just those two terms in particular that bug me, and the level of annoyance I get from "skibidi" is almost nonexistent, TBH. Mostly I just consider it an absurdist humor reference.

Someone on FB didn't understand why someone's pet was being called a "rescue" if they had to pay money to get it, so I enlightened them:

It's something done here in the US, a scam, like how they charge thousands of dollars to get a single aspirin from the hospital when you're sick.

See, the city collects domestic animals like dogs and cats that have gotten loose on the streets. If you've shelled out money for a microchip and/or a collar and the city picks it up, you get your pet back. If nobody claims the pet because there's no proof that anyone owned it, the city instead sells the animal for an exorbitant fee that's still cheaper than getting a pet from a breeder, and they try to sell this as a good thing by calling it a "rescue." But it's only called a rescue because if they don't sell the animal within a certain amount of time, they just kill it and toss the body in a dumpster like PETA does. Hence, if you buy into their racket, you're "rescuing" the pet from being murdered by the state for the crime of existing in an unapproved way.

So, like I said, a scam. Or a racket? It's capitalism at work, either way.

I don't think the quantum singularity is meant to be any better than using antimatter, it's just different. And once the singularity is made, I imagine you can feed any old matter into it to keep it going. You'd have to give it *something* or else it would evaporate completely, and then you'd have nothing. Seems to me to be a pretty good idea, using something where you don't need to worry about finding a substance that has to be made artificially since it doesn't really exist in nature in our universe, and instead use a mini black hole and you can feed it literal garbage to keep it going. It may be no faster or more powerful than antimatter, but it's a lot more practical and more efficient.

Like, so efficient I wonder if the Vulcans use the same system on their ships. If not, I would wonder why not.

I don't remember where it was, but earlier on maybe YouTube, there was a comment by a cis woman about how she keeps getting misgendered and nobody believes her that she's a woman (at least on the phone) unless she tells them she's black, then they believe her.

My reason for bringing this up: TERFs who attack trans women are also hurting cis women when they do that. Support all women, or you're supporting none.

Every single strawberry you have ever eaten is genetically modified. The original strawberry grew in mats on the ground and were tiny and hardly worth the effort of picking. Then at some point, some rich dude crossed them with a different species in the Americas, and what we eat now is that hybrid and others.

In fact, I'm willing to bet every single thing you've ever eaten has been genetically modified, including a lot of "wild" species (actually species that went feral after being changed by humans, or got accidentally crossed with domesticated/genetically modified versions.) Humans have been doing this for thousands of years. Broccoli isn't a wild plant, not even kale is. Broccoli, kale, cabbage, cauliflower, bok choy, kohlrabi, and dozens of other vegetables are genetically modified versions of wild cabbage. Also, wild carrot roots look more like dandelion roots than they do like carrots.

Corn was also genetically modified over thousands of years, from a plant that looks more like wheat than it does like modern corn. The lemon isn't even a plant that evolved in the wild, it's a cross between two other plants, the bitter orange and the citron.

And animals? We've been genetically modifying them with selective breeding even longer than we have for plants, because it's easier. Cows are the domesticated form of a now extinct animal called the aurochs, and have as much in common with the aurochs now as dogs have in common with wolves. Maybe even less than that. And sheep? Sheep look almost nothing like their wild ancestors.

So yeah, unless you regularly forage for wild plants to eat or have eaten wild deer, then literally everything you've ever eaten or ever will eat, no matter how old you are, has always been genetically modified.

Homeschooling is only done by idiots who want their children to be too sheltered and ignorant to get any smarter than them, out of the very justified fear of education making their kids realize that religion is garbage. They're also not getting proper socialization, they're not going to be socializing much with anyone outside of the cult they're in, which is just further going to isolate them. These facts make homeschooling a form of mental child abuse. Homeschooled kids only go to college if they manage to escape the grasp of their abusers.

Which I'm certain is because men like Trump and Hitler wrote that vile piece of trash to begin with.

It's little wonder Christian faiths are riddled with pedos when the religion worships a God that does all kinds of unspeakably evil acts like genocide, torture, slavery, and mass infanticide, and then brainwashes them into thinking these are the acts of a good and kind God. When up is down and wrong is right, of course predators are going to be attracted to it. The whole religion was made by predators to make finding prey more easy. Whether those predators go after children, your money, or just power over other people depends on the personal preference of the predator. But all clergy of Christianity are predators of one kind or another.
