Preferably somewhere where they're the only white person for miles, to teach them not to be racist. And then send some white Karens to where they work so they learn that anyone of any race can be a shitty customer.
And if they fail their self control and get fired from the retail job for being rude (or worse) to a customer or are racist to a fellow employee, then they're not allowed to ever be a cop or security officer anywhere in the country.

I am supremely disappointed. But not entirely surprised. Alexander James Adams is one of those people you find in paganism and elsewhere that can get very annoyingly "love everyone," an attitude that should fall apart the instant one runs across Nazis, but these sorts of people tend to be idealistic to a fault. Even Lily had more than a touch of that. As much as I love her, a part of me is almost glad she's not around to spout cold takes like the above.

Ok.....let me just put out a personal statement.....
ACAB is imo, a bad moniker for the problem that exists.
I will not condone a statement of absolute.
Yes, there is a very serious flaw in the foundation of our law enforcement agencies.
Please don’t start spitting fire and media splashes that hyperfocus on specific points without balancing it in the bigger picture. There is always two opposing sides to any thing. Both must be equally respected and then compromised with honour.
My friends here are starting to glow in anger and there is a rise in unskilled language. Stop it. Stay in the greater perspective, stay above the battle to see where the push and yield actually happen. Most of us have to rely on outside sources for info. Always remember, if you truly can’t see it for yourself, then what you hear is another’s interpretation.
This whole thing is horrific, but we must stay unified in a desire for truth and repair for all. Please, my friends, let’s stay gentle and honourable as we argue.

People with that kind of wishy-washy fence-sitting attitude are a large part of how we got into this whole Trump fascism mess in the first place. People who say things like "both sides make good points" or "there's two sides to every conflict" in this kind of context are people I want to donkey-kick in the teeth.
The bigger picture is that white supremacist terrorists and fascists are a problem. And if you don't recognize that, then you are a fucking moron. When it comes to fascism and white supremacy, you are either a fascist/white supremacist or you aren't. There is no common ground. There can be no compromise. There can be zero tolerance for the kind of genocidal hatred white supremacists and fascists represent. These people don't just hate white people, after all. They hate gays and trans people too. As a trans man, you should be opposed to them. I really don't understand how you can be this fucking blind and/or stupid.
The fact is that the cops helped the terrorists into the capitol because they're on the same side. The system ensures all good cops get quickly fired or killed for opposing white supremacy. So all cops that last more than a few weeks on the job are, in fact, bastards in addition to being white supremecists, terrorists, and general all around bastards.
You can either wise up and drop this "let's hold hands with the Nazis and sing kumbaya" attitude, or you can fuck off forever. One thing is for sure, until you wise up, I will not be supporting you in any way, shape, or form. Because when it comes to a fight against people who want to murder people for things they have no control over, you are either with us or against us. A lot of things are shades of gray, but the topic of fascism and white supremacy is entirely black and white. Either you oppose violence and genocide against people of color, LGBT people, and others, or you are siding with evil. And if you decide to continue with this dumbass fucking attitude of yours, then you are worthless scum right along with the Nazis you want to hold hands with.

Their training doesn't cover the laws at all, and most of these cops are bullies who never paid attention in school and are doing good to know how to count higher than ten without taking their shoes and socks off. They don't know what the laws are any more than the average citizen does, yet they're expected to enforce the law???
Seriously, do you know how terrifying that is? It's like letting someone pilot a passenger plane without ever having taken flying lessons before. It's like letting someone be a surgeon who's never been to medical school and can't tell the difference between a scalpel and a pen knife. It's fucking TERRIFYING!
Add to this the fact that they don't get any training in how to de-escalate situations, they don't know the first thing about dealing with someone who's mentally ill, and these places that hire cops don't even screen for racists or rapists!
Oh, and then there's a MAXIMUM IQ for cops. You can literally be too smart to be allowed to be a cop. Biff, the bully guy from Back To The Future, could be a cop, but someone intelligent like Neil Degrasse Tyson is literally too intelligent to be allowed to be a cop! Like... what the FUCK? The only thing the cops in our neighborhood are good for is oppressing poor people, selling and buying drugs, pimping out prostitutes, and hanging around the 7-11 running their crime ring. Yes, you heard me right: the cops in our neighborhood - probably in the entire city of Portland, to be honest - are running a drug and prostitution ring. This neighborhood was okay until the cops started hanging around here, and then suddenly the place was flooded with meth addicts, heroin addicts, and other ne'er do wells.
We know they invited them here. We've reported the drug dealers and drug users scores of times, and yet the cops don't care, nothing ever gets done. The only time they ever appear to do their actual job is when it gives them an excuse to come in here to our building and harass people.
I mean, I know all cops are criminals, but for fuck's sake have some subtlety!

No good cops

One: Naive children or naive adults who buy into the bullshit propaganda about cops being good people who stand for truth, justice, and love of puppies, and think also that cops are good people fighting bad people when really cops are bad people who more often than not fight and kill good people for no good reason.
Two: Violent sexist/racist/homophobic/transphobic/bigoted sociopaths who get off on having power over other people and want an excuse to rape and/or murder people and get away with it.
On a related note, that's also a list of the people who become cops, and the first type soon get fired or quit because there's no place for a good man in a violent gang/hate crime group.

Inaccuracies in Inhumans
Oct. 1st, 2017 05:26 amOMG this scene in Marvel’s Inhumans is so fucking annoying. So Black Bolt just stole a suit because he has no money. Despite his name, he's white. And conventionally handsome. The cops - without having a description or a reason to suspect him, just suddenly appear and stop him. He's white, conventionally handsome, and wearing a suit. Realistically, in our culture, they would have gone right by him, rather than stopping.
Gods, now they're beating him and shouting "Don't resist!" when he's not resisting. This is so unrealistic! Cops in our culture do NOT treat white people like that. It's everyone else they treat that way. The only way this scene would make any sense would be if he wasn't white!

Oct. 1st, 2017 04:47 amWatching Brooklyn Nine Nine because it's funny and takes place in one of those fantasy universes where there exist good cops who care about human beings.
Anyway, the episode I'm on right now is the one where Terry gets stopped in his own neighborhood just for being black. And Holt's position on what Terry should do is not rock the boat, not complain officially because he will probably get fired for reporting it, which sadly is true. But then he goes on to say Terry should just rise up through the ranks and change the system. Which immediately had me thinking of that one political cartoon that goes "George is changing the system from the inside!" and George looks exactly like all the other office drones.
Seriously, what a fucked up lesson! "Change the system from the inside herp de doo!" Like that's ever fucking worked. So fucking naive! The only solution is the SMASH the system!
Oh and then Terry's saying how he thought of his daughters, worrying if they one day would get stopped and maybe even killed by a bad cop, and they won't have the "I'm a cop" out that he had. And I just want to say, it must be nice living in a fictional universe where good, non-racist cops that actually care about truth and justice actually exist. I wish we lived in such a world.
Luckily, Holt did change his position. They submitted the complaint, and all that happened (so far) is he got passed over for a promotion. Nice little pleasant fantasy ending. Meanwhile, as much as I like Terry and Holt, it would have had more of an impact if the characters had gotten fired, since that's what would happen in the real world.
Also, it's extremely naive that they think that racist cop will "think twice before making another bad stop like that again." Racists can't be reasoned with, they will never change their minds. People like that, they get an idea in their head and it never leaves.

So today on the bus, a woman was getting on the bus, and she had some things she was carrying that she had to put down. As she tried to do that, the bus driver started telling her in a much too harsh tone to show her her ticket. She tried explaining she needed to put her stuff down and make sure it didn't fall over before she could locate her ticket in her bag. The bus driver then started to yell at her to show her ticket, yelling very loudly. The bus driver kept yelling more and more, not giving the woman a second to explain or to comply. How is anyone supposed to comply with an order when it's being shouted and then screamed at them over and over and over again?
I had been at the bus stop with this woman, and she didn't have her ticket ready when she boarded because some idiot homeowner had sicced the cops on her for existing on a public sidewalk in front of his driveway as she was just trying to keep her things from falling everywhere. She wasn't even blocking the driveway and he wasn't even going anywhere but still this pig was harassing her for no good reason for over 20 minutes.
So yeah, she didn't have her ticket ready because she was being harassed by the cops over something stupid, and then she gets harassed by the bus driver who was too impatient to let her put her stuff down and secure it before she can show her ticket, something I see bus drivers being patient about all the time. This woman hadn't even been back to put her stuff down 20 seconds when the bus driver started shouting at her. If the driver had just been patient, we could have all been going within 40 or 50 seconds at the most, but because she kept screaming at this poor woman, it took several minutes because honestly, nobody can keep calm and comply with an order when it's being screamed at them over and over and over again. I'm surprised the woman wasn't crying at how badly she was being treated for no good reason.
It got so bad I actually started shouting at the driver to shut up and let her get her ticket, but I think the driver misheard me or misunderstood who I was yelling at, because when I was passing her to get off the bus, she said "Sorry about all that" in a tone that plainly meant she was apologizing to me not for her shitty behavior but for the woman "making a scene." I hadn't been intending to say anything to the driver, just report her, but at those words I turned to her, gave her the stink-eye, and said loudly and clearly, "YOU were the one being rude," then walked off the bus without another word.
Honestly, that driver needs to get some anger management classes or something. I reported that stupid driver woman to Trimet for this BS. You'd think a 60-some year old white woman would have more patience than that shitty driver, but no, apparently not. I hope they fire her.
