Cell phone cancer bullshit
Jun. 11th, 2011 12:57 pmIt's being said that using a cell phone causes brain cancer. They claim that putting an active cell phone up to your ear exposes you to microwave radiation. Frankly, that claim makes my bullshitometer go crazy. Seriously, think about it for more than a few seconds. That cell phone radiation is fucking everywhere these days; if you were gonna get brain cancer from it, you wouldn't even NEED A CELL PHONE. Besides which, the news report from the WHO said there's no evidence that cell phones cause cancer "but if you're worried, get a headset." So people are once more not even reading the original articles.
It's getting so bad with this bullshit about "oh whine whine the big scary machines are making me sick" crap that cell phone companies are letting their brand-new towers sit around completely turned off for several months just so they can wait for the inevitable "your cell phone towers are making me and my family sick" calls, all so they can say "HA HA, fuck you, we haven't even turned it on yet, asshat!"
Cell phone radiation is not going to hurt you. You probably get more radiation eating a banana than you do from 12 hours on a cell phone. Also, you won't go sterile standing in front of a microwave oven. If those things were spewing forth radiation, your flesh would be cooking if you stood in front of one. That's a serious health and safety risk, it wouldn't be on the market long. And opening the doors isn't going to change things, because opening the doors turns the machine off. Any microwave radiation from that is fast and doesn't hang around. It's like light. You turn the light off, and all the light it emitted disappears.
