This should not need to be said.

There are, and should be, limits to free speech. First, free speech only means the government isn't allowed, by its own founders' rules, to arrest you for criticising it or its members. (They'll find a way to do so anyway if they want to, but that's another topic.) Any definition of free speech that is more expansive than that is a false definition. Which means that if you say something on a website like Tumblr that the owners don't like, they have every right to ban you for saying it. But like I said, freedom of speech just supposedly protects you from the government, it doesn't apply beyond that context.

But let's say for the sake of argument that freedom of speech did in fact include the right to speak your mind without being called out, disagreed with, or booted off of a website... So here's the thought experiment involving us living in a world where that's what freedom of speech is:

First, people can now shout "fire" in a crowded theater without being held accountable for property damage or loss of life.

Second, serial child molesters who use the Internet to lure in new victims would have to be allowed to do so without booting them offline. Yet many of the same people who support Nazis' "freedom of speech" will gleefully cheer when a serial child molester's blog is taken down. "Oh what's that? They didn't have any illegal child porn or clear evidence of criminal wrongdoing on their blog other than identifying as a pedophile, yet still you don't defend their right to free speech? Well that makes you just as bad as the child molesters!"

Absurd, right? Well guess what, people-who-defend-a-nazi's-right-to-free-speech, that's exactly how you sound to people like me. Here I am saying Nazis are criminals and terrorists who deserve death just for being Nazis, and you wring your hands and defend them. Meanwhile you do exactly the same fucking thing to pedophiles all the gods-damned time, and you don't see the irony. Christ, at least pedophiles have the excuse of having a mental illness! Being a Nazi, on the other hand, is a deliberate fucking choice.

Third, it's interesting how terrorists of color can have violent, hate filled manifestos online and many of the same people who wisely accept these violent, hatred filled manifestos as evidence of terrorism don't seem to apply that same metric to the violent, hate filled manifestos of Nazis. And by "interesting," I mean "fucked up."

In fact, if freedom of speech includes having to allow literal Nazis to spew their hateful, genocidal rhetoric that they need to grow power to make their dream of racial purity possible, then this is what will happen: The Nazis gain enough power to take over and completely destroy freedom in this country. (I had a second point but I forgot it, and this pretty much eclipses it anyway.)

Yes, enabling Nazi rhetoric is helping them take over, just as surely as letting serial child molesters use the Internet to prey on children without trying to stop them makes you partly responsible for any children who get raped or murdered.

So, Nazi enablers: IE the people who say anything at all like "hating Nazis is just as bad as Nazis hating Jews," If we have another holocaust, you will be partly responsible for thousands, possibly millions more deaths. If you believe in Hell, you'd better believe you're going to be roasting down there right alongside the Nazis if your idiocy helped them do that.

Furthermore, I have as much right as they do to speak, and I have just as much right to say they deserve to be punched in the face, kicked in the genitals, or even killed, as they do to spew their own crap. It does not make me as bad as a Nazi to hate a Nazi. If you think it does, you are either a Nazi yourself and pretending to not be one, or your head is so far up your ass that you can see your own tonsils.

Which brings me to the thing that made me go off on this rant in the first place, something else you need to know: Many Nazis these days disguise what they are in coded language. This kind of coded language is called "racist dog whistles" because you have to know what to look for to hear what they're really saying. So when someone on Tumblr or elsewhere tells you that someone is a literal, not-fucking-around Nazi, I don't care how goddamned many times people have abused the term Nazi in the past (which, incidentally, is another tactic Nazis use to disguise themselves: IE, helping to devalue the term and likely originally instigating the over-use of the term "Nazi" until it became largely meaningless to start with), if someone is going to that kind of length to get across the idea that someone is a literal, not-fucking-around Nazi, then you can rest assured that person making that desperate plea to be heard is as serious as an airline pilot having a heart attack during a hurricane, and you can safely assume that the person identified as a literal, not-fucking-around Nazi is indeed a literal, not-fucking-around, honest-to-goddess fucking Nazi.

On top of that, another method literal, not-fucking-around Nazis use to hide their true nature is pretending to be ordinary nice people who just so happen to think we should let those literal, not-fucking-around Nazis say what they want to because Yay Freedom. So when I say that defending a Nazi makes you a Nazi, what I mean is that if you defend a Nazi, you might be a Nazi in disguise, and since I don't know you, and since Nazis are a dangerous threat to my existence, I have to err on the side of caution and assume you are a literal, not-fucking-around Nazi.

When it comes to literal, not-fucking-around Nazis, the following three things are your ONLY choices:

1. Violent action against Nazis in defense of everyone else.

2. Supporting said violent anti-Nazi action, if you're not temperamentally or physically equipped to take said action yourself.

3. Taking violent INaction against everyone who isn't a Nazi. (Failing to choose is the same as choosing this option.)
