Something I doubt I will ever understand is why anyone still buys name brand soda pop, when much cheaper generic brands exist. It's literally the exact same thing, same recipe, same flavor, and I'm 99.9% sure - as sure as I get about anything - that they're bottled by the same corporations; IE, the company that makes Dr. Pepper also makes and bottles all of the generic brand knockoffs like Dr. Knockoff as well.1 It's a bigger scam than bottled water, which is just unfiltered tap water put into plastic bottles. Next thing they're gonna do is sell premium quality bottled air, which will just be regular air that's been sucked into a canister, and people are going to buy it because they're gullible idiots.
I'm pretty sure a lot of other generics are made by the same companies as the brand names, too. Not everything, of course; things like elbow macaroni are pretty much public domain so any fool with the right equipment could make it. But proprietary things like soda pop are definetely a scam like I mentioned above. And anyway, while some things are higher quality as brand names, other things aren't. For instance, all mayonnaise tastes the same unless they've added something to it, or subtracted the fat from it. (Fat free and lite mayos taste the way cat vomit smells, as does Miracle Whip and its generic knockoffs.)
So yeah, brand names are generally scams.
1 = And all it is anyway is sugared salt-water with artificial flavors and carbon dioxide added.
