Military service does not make you special, or a hero, or worthy of special treatment. It makes you a dupe, a tool of the imperialist agenda of racist violence for the sake of capitalism, and another victim of the shittiness of governments. If you made it through your term of service alive, good for you. But odds are good you'd be a war criminal if the UN had any spine, along with the wealthy asshats that tricked you into being their cannon fodder.
"I fought to defend your freedom!"
No you didn't. Pretty sure all or most of the WWI and WWII veterans are dead by now, and even if they aren't, I doubt you're one of them. Which means you fought for oil, capitalism, and/or helping the US lord it over the rest of the world as though its government is anything special. Face it: your service was entirely unnecessary. They drafted or tricked you into joining and risking death or PTSD just because the government is greedy for power and they used you as cannon fodder to achieve it. You are/were a cog in the machine. Instead of getting mad at me for pointing out the bloody obvious, get mad at the government, help us rise up and destroy all governments so we can live peacefully without them.
You were not a hero. You were an employee of an organization that murders people for power and money. The only difference between that and being a Mob enforcer is sheer scale.
