What is with Satanists and dark backgrounds on websites?

I hate that most websites about Satanism by Satanists have these black backgrounds and often red text. I hate looking at that kind of shit for long, it hurts my eyes. Which is why I went with a mostly white but partially black background for my Dreamwidth, and earth tones for my LJ.
