To which I replied:
Actually, no. The United States was originally set up as a Republic, with democratic tendencies. The founding fathers knew that, historically speaking, democracies don't work any better than any other system. Instead of the tyanny of one man or one family, you get the tyranny of the majority. USA has been moving away from its Republic status and towards Democracy status for a long time, and it is, frankly, an alarming prospect. The majority of people are stupid, callous, judjmental, self-righteous sheep, and I do NOT want to be ruled by them. Fuck democracy up its ass. I'm a liberal but not a fan of democracy. I really have no party anymore: the Republicans are evil and the Democrats favor democracy. I guess that makes me an Independant.
