Hermaphrodite is a trans goddess
Sep. 1st, 2021 02:58 amOkay so apparently intersex people don't like anyone using the term "hermaphrodite" unless they're intersex themselves, they claim it's "reclaiming a slur" like with "queer." The problem is, "hermaphrodite" isn't their word to reclaim. I know the term means something similar now because some scientist along the way was an idiot, but "hermaphrodite" in its scientific definition is being misused. It's basically just a weird pronunciation of the Goddess Hermaphrodite (her-maff-row-die-tee being the proper pronunciation, and "her-maff-row-dyte" being incorrect), who isn't a hermaphrodite in the scientific sense at all. She is specifically a trans woman. You can tell by the fact she has breasts, a dick, balls, and a womanly appearance, but does NOT have a vagina.
So yeah, intersex people, if my friend Fay wants to identify as a hermaphrodite, that's her right. The word isn't yours to reclaim, regardless of what some idiot scientist did to fuck up the meaning of the word. Hermaphrodite is a transgender female Goddess, not an intersex one.
Oh, and don’t even get me started on a related issue: my theory that transgender people should also be considered intersex, since the brain is a sex organ as well and their brains disagree with their genitals and society’s judgment.
