The Punisher is evil
Apr. 2nd, 2016 06:20 pmI wish they hadn't had Daredevil call The Punisher crazy. He's not crazy, he’s evil. Daredevil should've said, "You're just as evil as the people you kill. Worse, even; you're a serial killer. You're a mass murderer. You should kill yourself, or turn yourself over to the police."
Honestly, The Punisher has this notion in his head that criminals are just pure evil that prey on people for shits and giggles. But most criminals are just trying to make a living. Are they preying on people? Yes, for many crimes, but not all. Other crimes, like illegal gambling, are just providing a service that isn’t legal in that area. Most criminals turn to crime because they’re poor, and crime in a source of income. Not saying that they should be allowed to do those things, but killing them is wrong; they don’t deserve death. No crime is so bad that death should be the penalty.
But I am glad that they’re treating The Punisher this way, because it’s a realistic depiction of vigilantes. Real vigilantes aren’t the morally upright, good hearted people like Matt Murdock, real vigilantes are self-righteous assholes that think they know better than the justice system, taking justice into their own hands. Real vigilantes aren’t heroes, they’re just idiots; idiots who get innocent people killed because of their idiocy.
I may not like cops, because the justice system is extremely flawed and racist and these cowardly pigfucking cops murder innocent, unarmed black people for no damn reason, but as bad as cops are, vigilantes are 1000 times worse.
It would be an even more realistic depiction of vigilantes if they had The Punisher killing people he only thought were criminals, but weren’t, because most vigilantes target people who have been falsely accused of a crime (usually a sex crime) and end up killing someone innocent because they didn’t have a trial or lawyers or judges or any of that. Like the idiots that killed a pediatrician because they were too stupid to tell the difference between the words “pediatrician” and “pedophile.”
Then you’ve got these “Perverted Justice” people and others like them pulling vigilante bullshit, interfering with investigations, targeting both the innocent and the guilty, and I just wish the FBI would take these motherfuckers out because they’re doing more harm than good. Their hearts may be in the right place, but they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing, and they don’t have any legal right to be doing it anyway, even if they did. (Same goes for Dateline’s “To Catch a Predator” BS. It’s just fear-mongering BS that makes the problem look 1000 times worse than it is.)
Honestly, the justice system may be flawed and racist, but that doesn’t give anyone an excuse to target anyone extra-legally.
And the worst thing is, people applaud them! They target someone the Media is whipping everyone into fearing, and they get applauded. I wonder, though, how many of those same people would applaud if a vigilante started taking out all the cops who got away with murdering innocent black and/or disabled people? Would anyone applaud them for getting justice? Or would everyone just call them a cop killer?
As much as I hate vigilantes, if such a cop-killing vigilante targeting murderers in uniform were to exist, I have to admit to being torn between screaming in outrage at the serial killer, and cheering them on. But I very much hope nobody does that; it wouldn’t do #BLM any favors. Now if Lucifer wants to strike killer cops down with lightning, I’m down with that.
