The US is a dumpster fire

It says something very bad about a country when there are so many hate crimes in that country that I -- a person who makes it a point to keep up to date on this kind of thing -- had to look up Ahmaud Arbery to know who he was. Granted, I do also have ADHD which comes with memory problems, and yet his name was still vaguely familiar to me and I just needed reminding of the details, but still.

While I was looking it up, I was really hoping this was a case where the murderer had been a cop and the cop actually went to jail for it, but at the same time I wasn't holding my breath because cops are held accountable for their hate crimes so infrequently that it would've been massive news if one of them had actually gone to prison. (And I really think we ought to be calling these racist murders by racist cops "hate crimes" because that's precisely what they are.)

Either way, if this hate criminal is afraid for his life, I say "Good. You get what you fucking deserve!"
